The pole vault in Sopot

American Football match made me and Wanda eager to discover more sport emotions. Happily for us  it is not difficult to find a sport event in Tricity. This time we chose the pole vault competition which took place near to Sopot’s pier – the biggest attraction in this city. That’s why this event in Polish is called “Tyczka na molo” which means “Pole on the pier”.  We weren’t disappointed – watching people jumping over a bar was really exciting even if we were a little late and we didn’t see all participants. Moreover scenery was also nice, so sitting in the audience was a pure pleasure.

In the background in the first photo you can see Sheraton Hotel (in my opinion the most beautiful hotel in Sopot), whereas in the second photo the crowded pier is visible.

It was the first time when I have watched this sport and I was delighted with diversity of poses which participants adopted. Just take a look:

The competition in female category won Liza Ryzih from Germany. Actually she was Russian (was born in Omsk) and her coach spoke to her in Russian so we understood him.  (She is the first on the left side). There were also girls from others countries like Kate Denisson (2nd place) from Great Britain or Minna Nikkanen 3rd place) from Finland.:)

And at the end commemorative photo with Sopot’s lighthouse in the background.

Bye! ;)

American Football match in Gdynia

Sorry I am late with this entry, but I don't have prmanent access to the Internet now. :(

After final exams I have a plenty of time to spend it on doing new things. Thanks to this one day I went with Wanda to watch an American Football match. :) The fight was between teams of Seahawks Gdynia (black and yellow costumes) and AZS Silesia Rebels (in white) from the southern Poland.

American Football isn’t very popular among Poles, but there was a lot fans on stand and we had a great time. Nice thing was also that during the whole match commentator was explaining all rules of this game,  so we didn’t feel confused and we could applaud in the right time. In Gdynia’s team there are a few Americans and also Canadians and it is not a secret that they are the best in this team and that Poles learn from them.

Team from Gdynia even has their own cheerleaders  who dance during breaks and welcomes players  with black-yellow balloons.

During the longest break three supporters have a possibility to win something - they only had to kick ball which had to fly over crossbar. In the same time Seahawks did some exercises.

At the end of this match players high-fived each others and afterwards they met with fans.

And who won the match? G-D-Y-NI-A! ;)

Ps Not only this match Seahawks won - they won also Polish chempionship in American Football this year! :)
